How Private Health Insurance Works for Expats Seeing a Cardiologist in Istanbul
Cardiologist
Dr. Sinan Coşkun Turan
My approach to heart health looks beyond test results alone—it brings together the patient’s symptoms, risk factors, and living circumstances. Each visit is given enough time for a clinically driven assessment that avoids unnecessary procedures. My aim is clear communication, an accurate diagnosis, and trustworthy follow-up.
Curriculum Vitae
I was born in Ordu in 1968. After primary and secondary school in Ordu and graduating from Istanbul Kabataş Boys’ High School, I graduated from Istanbul University Cerrahpaşa Faculty of Medicine in 1990. I completed my cardiology residency at the Istanbul University Institute of Cardiology between 1991 and 1996. I then worked as a cardiologist at Istanbul VKV American Hospital until 2000, Istanbul Fatih Sultan Mehmet Training and Research Hospital until 2010, Istanbul Private Kozyatağı Central Hospital until 2020, and later at Altunizade Private Academic Hospital. Since 2020 I have been practicing at my private clinic in Kozyatağı, Kadıköy, Istanbul. Within clinical cardiology I focus especially on hypertension, cholesterol and related lipid disorders, diabetes, coronary artery disease, heart failure, rhythm disorders and arrhythmia, coronary CT angiography (virtual angiography), and interventional procedures including coronary angiography, drug-coated balloons, and stents. I speak English and am a member of the Turkish Medical Association, the Turkish Society of Cardiology, and related working groups.

Evaluation and follow-up for heart health are planned according to clinical need, with every patient approached individually.
Dr. Sinan Coşkun Turan
In evaluating heart and vascular disease, I take a holistic cardiology approach that weighs symptoms, risk factors, and clinical findings together—not test results alone. At my Kozyatağı practice in Kadıköy, I aim to give each patient enough time, avoid unnecessary testing, and move forward only with the right indication.
Drawing on decades of cardiology practice, I evaluate every patient as an individual.
Symptoms, risk profile, and investigations are reviewed together to build a personal care pathway.
Care is available at the Kozyatağı clinic and, when appropriate, through home cardiology visits on Istanbul’s Asian side.
Cardiology Expertise
For heart-related symptoms, test results, or a second opinion, I offer individualized cardiology assessment. My priority is to listen carefully and clarify what is clinically necessary.
